Hickey Karate Center martial arts program provides for the physical, mental, emotional, and social growth of children K-8 diagnosed with ADD or ADHD through multi-cultural training in the martial arts. Using an interdisciplinary approach and an interactive hands-on style, fundamentals of the martial arts appropriate for the age and developmental level of K-8 students will be utilized to meet defined objectives. Meeting these will provide the student with important life skills. This training takes place as part of our regular instruction.
In addition, Hickey Karate Center has been instrumental in assisting the Summit Academy, a charter school system, in implementing a martial arts program for their students. Hickey Karate Center supports this Therapeutic Martial Arts program and has been instrumental in its implementation. Some of the Hickey Karate Center black belts provide instruction for this program.
