A Session Designed to Help Students Achieve a Better Understanding of the Martial Arts
A fun and interesting look at the relationship between empty hand and weapons techniques. We will use padded weapons for a more realistic application of movement, striking and blocking. If you don't have your own weapons, your Shihan or Sensei can get them. It's the same as with other sports; you can't do them without balls, racquets or clubs. You should have at least a short sword and a staff.

Shisochin Kata – Shisochin is a Goju Ryu kata of Chinese origin which literally means "four direction battle." It is unique in the Goju system because it uses no closed fist techniques. All hand techniques are "open hand waza". Additionally, Shisochin is one of the katas on the World Karate-do Federation's "Major Kata List."
Mr. Cramer holds Roku Dan in Goju-Ryu Karate and was awarded his GKK Renshi Certification in December of 1996. Mr. Cramer has had a long association with sports karate, competing in kata, kumite, and weapons divisions. In over 30 years of training and competing he has won many awards, including 17 National Medals in tournaments sanctioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Governing Body for Sport Karate-do. Additionally, he is certified as a National Referee. In 2001 Mr. Cramer was inducted into the USAKF’s Hall of Fame as Athlete of the Year.
